GEMS thank you for donation of $1000. Will be posted on AAUW website.
Treasurer: MOKU insurance due at end of year. Will be approx. $7000.00. We’re still in the black at this point.
Keauhou Canoe Club authorizes the following persons to be official signers on the club checking account at Bank of Hawaii : Mary Brado, Treasurer; Bill Armer, Athletic Director; Jane Bockus, Membership Secretary--Board of Directors; Ken Pool, Interim Treasurer".
Membership: New members (mostly recreational paddlers) still being added. Around 460 members currently.
Athletics:
Founders Regatta—We came out about $350 ahead. Honorarium of $100 for Ulalia Berman for blessings to be sent with thank you note.
Transfer paddlers coming to Keauhou for either regatta or distance must pay full price membership. Day of race paddlers picked up to complete a crew are not responsible for membership fees.
OC1/OC2 Guidelines—In formulation process—still working out details. Maintenance fee required for usage.
State Championships—great performance. Boat transportation costs covered by rental of koa. Need a permanent storage of trophies. Perhaps pictures of trophies posted at halau.
$100 Ace Hardware Gift Certificate from Moku Champiohships to be used for supplies for canoe repair.
Aka Hemmings has offered to do a steering clinic for KCC as appreciation for help with Pure Light Racing. Very intense clinic series. Perhaps a 3 part series 3 out 6 starting Oct. 18th –Nov. 15. Fee of $25 for series—open to club members first. Will pass along further details as they are confirmed.
Regatta Racing Evaluation—to be sent via mail to racing paddlers.
Race Secretary: Possible to make changes to coaches organization in order to prevent paperwork errors (which lead to disqualification). Expectations of coaches needs to be clarified by race secretary.
Moku/HCRA:
Operations: Gil and Kalani are still discussing ways to repair Lele Wa’a and working on preparing proposal and estimate.
Old Business:
BBQ may not be done. Possible conflict with Eagle Scout requirements, but still working on decision.
New Business:
Planning committee for 10/18 total club party—Terry to form committee—start around 3:30.
Liliuokalani—boat borrowing. Pure Light, Lotus, Torey Brown/ Rich Carlson (Toronto), Katherine Pederson(Puu wai)/Toronto men all have requests in and Stephanie is working on assigning boats.
2009 Club t-shirt design—Contest to be announced in August newsletter. Deadline must be early in order to get shirts ordered and delivered by December annual Meeting.
Date for Annual Meeting—Sunday, December 14th at 11am.
World Sprints 2010 will be in New Caledonia.
