Please Report for 8:15 a.m. orientation with Paddle at 9-10 a.m.
Our goal is that paddling here at Keauhou will be the highlight of your stay in Hawaii. We share the culture and the sport of Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe paddling. Reservations are not needed and you need to be prepared to be an active paddler. Wear comfortable water sport clothing and appropriate footgear and swimming may be possible. We provide the guides, paddles, and canoes.
Guests/Visitors who unknowingly arrive for the 6:30 or the 8 am paddle will need to return by 8:15 amfor the paddle at 9 am even if space is available at the earlier paddles (including guests/visitors who come with club members). Guests will complete the paperwork, get fitted with a club paddle and personal flotation device (PFD), have a safety briefing, receive a cultural/geographic orientation to historic Keauhou Bay, and learn canoe paddling etiquette and paddling technique. Guests will help launch and return the canoes to the shoreline area.
Guests/Visitors will sign the Paddlesports waiver form. Guests are expected to advise the captain if you have significant medical issues or a physical condition that might affect your paddling safety or safe operation of the canoe.
Guests/visitors must be at least eight (8) years old in order to paddle and all guests/visitors must wear a life jacket(PFD)per our insurance regulations. There is no upper age limit as we have 70 & 80+ year old active paddlers.
Captains will balance the canoes with a workable number of guests/visitors and experienced paddlers in a double hull (e.g. eight guests/visitors maximum in an OC-12). You will be able to purchase KCC memorabilia such as shirts, hats, keychains, decals, and tote bags. We gladly accept donations to support the maintenance of our program.
