3.22 MOKU/HCRA Meeting Outcomes

3.22 MOKU/HCRA Meeting Outcomes.  After attending the 3.22 meeting of HCRA and MOKU representatives, Terry Trinidad reported the following information  for the 2020 HCRA Racing season:
*Regattas cancelled for this season.
*Long distance races suspended/postponed till further notice
*4.26 makeup qualifying trials and August IVF Races cancelled
*Canoe weighing suspended till further notice
*No HCRA racer insurance coverage for racing OC1 canoe paddlers if there are not HCRA sponsored OC6 practices or the OC6 racing season.
*Contrary to previous reporting, no other Outrigger associations have forwarded their position on either Regatta or Long Distance races. 
*MOKU is the first association to acknowledge our island's racing preferences for the upcoming season.

The KCC Board will be developing our contingency plans on continued response  to COVID-19 as well as this expected cancellation news for the April 10 Board meeting and May 1 review date.   The Board has  already initiated preliminary discussions on dues refund and impact on budget, Paddlesport waivers for racers with OC1 canoe racks, OC6 usage since racing season  is cancelled and as COVID-19 restrictions soften.  If you have thoughts or issues you think need to be addressed  send your ideas through the contact form in the newsletter.
