About the Keauhou Canoe Club

Keauhou Bay, just south of Kailua-Kona, is one of Hawai'i Island's most storied coastal places. As the birthplace of King Kamehameha III and a thriving royal center, it remains a place of deep cultural significance. Generations of families and paddlers have launched their wa'a (canoes) here, passing down ocean knowledge and Hawaiian traditions.

Founded in 1980 and originally known as Honokōhau Canoe Club, and then Kau'ikeaouli Canoe Club, Keauhou Canoe Club proudly carries forward this legacy. We are dedicated to preserving and celebrating Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling while welcoming paddlers of all ages and abilities.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is simple: to foster a love for outrigger canoe paddling and promote cultural understanding through our sport. We work to educate our youth, members, and the community about Hawaiian culture, values, and traditions.

Whether racing competitively or enjoying a peaceful paddle, our members find camaraderie, challenge, and connection to this special place. Throughout the year, we also host events, workshops, and volunteer activities that strengthen our community and honor the traditions of Keauhou Bay.
